You can certainly get a high-paying job even if you have low grades – plenty of salespeople earned a 3.0 on the academic scale but a 4.0 on the social scale. Grades below those levels don’t necessarily mean that banks will reject you right away, but they do make it harder to win interviews through the normal process. Yes, sure, that’s all well and good… but even if you do that, you’ll still need a cover story to address your grades and explain why they don’t represent your potential.
Researching the schools that do will be a critical part of the application process. Although a 1.0 GPA for colleges is not high, there are schools that offer open admissions, meaning that they only require applicants to have high school diplomas. Colleges tend to love prospective students who are dedicated sidley austin careers to bettering their community or who demonstrate strong leadership skills. This is also a chance for you to show that you follow through on your commitments. So, picking a few activities that you stick with over time could be better than participating in as many as possible for shorter periods of time.
You can also establish that your flagging grades are on the way up. Sign up for a pre-med post-baccalaureate program if your GPA is dramatically low, or take related classes and ace them if you only need a few more points. Minimum GPA for acceptance to the graduate program is 2.5 on a 4 point scale. This is one of the Universities that accept low GPA for graduate programs. My typical advice is to at least get above a 500 on the MCAT to make sure your score doesn’t get your application filtered out by the medical schools.
